R-matrix training school
The R-matrix training school took place from September 13th till 15th at the Institut de Physique Nucléaire d'Orsay (IPNO) in France. Theoretical lectures and practical tutorials on the R-matrix calculation for nuclear astrophysics were given by Pierre Descouvement (ULB Brussels) and Edward Simpson (University of Canberra) to about fifteen PhD students and post-docs coming from various European countries (all of the participants are ECI, 3 are ITC, 1 is female). The participants were very studious. They appreciated very much the focusing of the school on the specific topic of R-matrix calculations, as well as the balance between theory and practice. The AZURE2 and DREAM codes tutorials generated a particularly strong interest, with several students considering that this work should be directly helpful for their research.
The school, cofinanced by the ChETEC COST Action and the P2I (Physics of the two Infinites) department of the Paris-Saclay, was organized by Faïrouz Hammache with the logistic support of Céline Gaubert and Valérie Frois (from IPNO).
