Outreach: The IAU Symposium
The IAU Symposium will take place from 28th July to 1st August 2008 at Keele University. The programme will cover:Keele University 
  • Surveys of the Magellanic System
  • Structure and dynamics of the Magellanic System - what the System contains
  • Properties of the Interstellar and Intergalactic Medium - the matter that fills the space between stars and galaxies
  • How stars are formed in the Magellanic Clouds
  • The history and evolution of the Magellanic SystemIAU Symposium
  • Stellar feedback - the way in which matter is taken from the interstellar medium by forming stars and returned at the end of the stars' lives
  • Irregular dwarf galaxies
There will be at least 200 people attending the Symposium, and it is hosted by Keele University and organised by scientists from 12 countries including the USA, Australia, Japan and Germany.
