PhD

Jessica Craig started her PhD in October 2020, to work on galaxy groups and clusters behind the Magellanic Clouds to study the interaction between galaxy evolution and their environment. This is based in first instance on deep near-infrared images from the VISTA survey of the Magellanic Clouds (VMC) but also exploits the wealth of multi-wavelength data available in this part of the sky. Jess has won numerous occasions to speak at conferences. She is completing the compilation of a catalogue of a million galaxies and galaxy clusters based in part on machine learning approaches. She also performs follow-up spectroscopy with the 11m Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) which she visited in 2023.
