Second Announcement
Date of issue: 29 April 2008
The beautiful, green campus of the University of Keele cordially invites you
to attend IAU Symposium 256 on "The Magellanic System: Stars, Gas, and
Galaxies", from Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August 2008.
Details can be found in the first announcement and elsewhere on the conference
website:
http://www.astro.keele.ac.uk/iaus256
In this second announcement we wish to inform you of a few new developments:
Registration
We have extended the deadline for early registration, to Friday 30 May 2008
(was 30 April 2008). Registration will remain possible after that date, until
18 July 2008, but at an increased fee.
Abstracts
The deadline for submitting abstracts has now passed, and currently the SOC
are finalising the scientific programme. Abstracts for posters can still be
submitted up to the final registration deadline. Talks will only be considered
in exceptional cases. The same holds for new requests for financial support.
Large format displays
We offer to display several (very) large format reproductions of images of the
Magellanic System or components within the Magellanic System. The size can be
up to about 3 metres in height. If you have produced a spectacular image that
is suitable for reproduction in large format, and are interested in this
possibility, please get in contact with us -
iaus256@astro.keele.ac.uk. We
have some funds available to help with the reproduction and displaying costs.
Animations
We also offer to display animated presentations during the conference, of
either observational data or computer simulations. If you are interested in
this possibility, please get in contact with us -
iaus256@astro.keele.ac.uk.
