Getting to Keele and around

Accommodation

If you stay overnight your host will arrange accommodation for you. You will most likely stay either in the Keele Management Centre or at the Old School B&B.

If you come by plane

The nearest airports are Manchester (MAN) and Birmingham (BHX). From the airport to Keele University you can take a taxi, or the train (to Stoke-on-Trent; direct from BHX, or through Manchester from MAN), or a National Express coach (to Hanley bus station in Stoke-on-Trent; direct service from MAN, and some direct from BHX). If you choose a taxi from the airport, these are shuttle companies that we have used before: If you take a train or a coach from the airport, you will then need to take a taxi or another bus to reach the University.

If you come by train

If you take the train you can go either to Crewe or to Stoke-on-Trent. From either station it is easiest to take a taxi to the University. Look for the taxi rank outside the station to get here, and once you're here your host can arrange for a cab for your return trip. There are also bus services from both stations: from Crewe, the Number 85A towards Newcastle (provider D&G Buses; schedule here) takes about 35 minutes; from Stoke-on-Trent, bus Number 25 towards Keele (provider First; schedule here) takes about 40 minutes. Both services stop right in front of the Lennard-Jones Labs.

If you come by coach

National Express goes both to Crewe and to Hanley bus station in Stoke-on-Trent. From the coach station, either take a taxi to the University or catch a local bus as above (D&G Number 85A from Crewe; First Number 25 from Hanley/Stoke-on-Trent).
